Description

The Bergen is the 6-person traditional sauna in Golden Designs' Modern Series -- the largest capacity model in the Modern Series traditional lineup, built on the same all-weather composite exterior and Canadian Red Cedar interior platform as the 3-person Drammen, but scaled for a full group session. At 75 inches wide by 67.2 inches deep by 75 inches tall inside, the Bergen accommodates six adults with two full bench levels, a dedicated bench backrest with accent lighting, and the full suite of chromotherapy, FM radio, and Bluetooth audio that comes standard across the Modern Series traditional lineup. There is no infrared system in the Bergen, no mode switching, and no split-circuit complexity -- just a Harvia "WALL" 8kW stove running on a single 240V/30AMP hardwired circuit, delivering the full-intensity traditional sauna experience the way it was designed to work.

 

The Bergen is a custom production unit with limited quantity available, rated for both indoor and outdoor installation. The exterior is all-weather composite construction in an Espresso finish that handles year-round outdoor exposure without the annual stain maintenance that natural wood demands. The interior is completely natural Canadian Red Cedar: walls, ceiling, benches, and backrest, kept without stain or finish because the interior must remain natural at all times. Canadian Red Cedar's aromatic oils are present from the first session -- the warm, distinctive scent that defines what a serious traditional sauna smells like when it is running. The manual notes that a small percentage of the population with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity may have an adverse reaction to Canadian Red Cedar's aroma, and advises discontinuing use if symptoms occur. For the majority of users, Canadian Red Cedar is the sauna wood of choice.

 

The Bergen's two-tier bench system is unique within the Modern Series traditional lineup. The second-level support beam is a Bergen-specific component: it installs first using 5x50mm wood screws, before the first-level bench supports slide into the side wall vertical guides. Both first and second level bench supports then slide into those guides, followed by the benches themselves -- each bench connected to its LED harness before being secured with 5x50mm wood screws. The backrest LED connects to the rear wall panel wiring before the backrest is mounted. The stove guard wood housing assembles around the Harvia stove and mounts to the wall panel after the heater is installed by a certified electrician, who must run the power cord through the vent hole in the wall panel and close the vent before the heater is mounted -- the vent cannot be opened once the heater is in place.

 

The control panel and performance speakers are both located on the rear wall panel. The upper vent is on the left side wall panel, the lower vent is on the right side wall panel, both positioned toward the front of the sauna room. The single Light/BT control panel manages the oversize chromotherapy color lighting system with red light therapy, bench accent lighting, FM radio, and Bluetooth audio independently of the stove. The chromotherapy lighting is operated via the included remote from inside the cabin; the control panel locks after 3 minutes of inactivity and requires pressing and holding the power button to unlock. The exterior roof panel holds approximately 20 pounds of snow per square inch. A waterproof cover is recommended when the Bergen is not in use outdoors.

 

Assembly requires three adults, a battery-operated Phillips screwdriver, rubber mallet, claw hammer, leveler, and two ladders. Warranty registration requires mailing the completed warranty card, with a copy of the sales receipt, to Golden Designs within 60 days of purchase date.

• Harvia "WALL" 8kW Traditional Stove with Built-In Controls -- Wall-mounted inside the cabin, powered by a dedicated 240V/30AMP hardwired circuit installed by a certified electrician. Ideal operating temperature is 170 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit; maximum is 190 degrees.
• Stove Guard Included -- A wood housing assembles around the Harvia stove and mounts to the interior wall panel to protect occupants from the heater surface during sessions. The wood housing must be installed after the heater is mounted by a certified electrician.
• 6-Person Capacity -- Interior dimensions of 75 inches wide by 67.2 inches deep by 75 inches tall provide genuine room for six adults on the two-tier bench system.
• Two-Tier Bench System -- The Bergen uses both first-level and second-level bench supports with two full bench panels. INSTALLATION NOTE: Location must be dry, level, and away from any water source. Three adults are required for assembly. The surface must support the assembled weight plus occupants, which can exceed 1,000 lbs. Approved base types include concrete slab, concrete pavers, gravel, cinder blocks, and solid wood deck. If placed directly on the ground, support cradles must rest on cinder blocks or similar structure to prevent settling. The Bergen requires TWO separate electrical circuits: a 240V/30AMP hardwired circuit for the Harvia stove, and a separate 120V/15AMP outlet for the Light/BT control panel. For the Harvia WALL stove, the electrician must run the power cord through the vent hole in the RIGHT SIDE WALL PANEL and close the vent before mounting the heater -- the vent cannot be opened once the heater is installed. The stove guard wood housing must be installed after the heater is mounted. When installing the exterior roof panel, the adhesive roofing paper must cover the center seam where the two roof panel pieces meet. All electrical connections must be made by a certified licensed electrician using copper wire rated at 90 degrees Celsius minimum; aluminum wiring is not permitted. Warranty registration requires mailing the completed warranty card and a copy of the sales receipt to Golden Designs within 60 days of purchase.
