Description

Not every outdoor sauna session should look the same. Some days the body wants the deep, ambient heat of a traditional stove pushing the cabin to 180 degrees -- the kind of heat that comes with steam when you pour water on the rocks and that works regardless of what the weather is doing outside. Other days the better session is the lower-temperature, longer-duration infrared experience that penetrates differently and works well precisely because it doesn't push the air as hard. The Carinthia is built for both. It is a true hybrid cabin -- a Harvia "WALL" 8kW traditional stove and a full-spectrum PureTech infrared system installed in the same structure, switchable by session without changing anything about how the sauna is installed.

 

At 3-person capacity, the Carinthia is the right size for a couple, a small household, or anyone who wants a serious outdoor sauna without the footprint of a 5-person cabin. The actual cabinet measures 63 inches wide by 56.7 inches deep, with the gable roof overhang bringing the total exterior to 84.1 inches wide by 73.6 inches deep by 97.4 inches tall. Inside, the 59.2 by 53.2 by 78-inch interior gives three adults genuine room to sit, and the bench system provides enough length to recline during an infrared session. The cabin is built from 100% natural reforested Canadian Hemlock with a waterproof clear stain on the exterior -- the same construction and finish system used across Golden Designs' Classic Series outdoor line, chosen for its performance in year-round outdoor exposure.

 

The infrared side of the hybrid runs on 8 total emitters -- 2 Carbon PureTech Near Zero EMF FAR infrared heating panels and 6 near-infrared heating elements -- delivering full-spectrum near, mid, and far wavelength coverage at near-zero EMF. The infrared system is ideal when the exterior temperature is 45 degrees Fahrenheit or warmer. The traditional stove runs any time, regardless of outside temperature, reaching the 170 to 185 degree ideal range with the ability to push to 190 degrees for a more intense session. Both systems run on a single dedicated 240V/40AMP circuit -- one electrical installation covers both heating modes. The two systems operate independently and are not run simultaneously.

 

Inside, the Carinthia is finished with a bronze privacy tempered glass door, interior chromotherapy color lighting with a dedicated red light therapy feature, exterior roof accent lighting, and a touch key control panel with built-in FM radio and Bluetooth audio feeding the built-in performance speakers. The stove guard wood housing installs around the Harvia stove to protect occupants from the heater surface. The sandglass, bucket, and scoop ship with the unit, so an authentic traditional session is ready from the first use.

 

The Carinthia ships in 9 cartons via LTL freight and assembles with a battery-operated screwdriver, rubber mallet, and two ladders. Three adults are recommended for assembly. The gable roof with asphalt shingles is part of the structural kit and provides permanent, year-round weather protection without requiring a separate rain cover during normal outdoor use.

INSTALLATION NOTE: Location must be dry, level, and away from any water source. The sauna surface must support the assembled weight plus occupants, which can exceed 1,000 lbs. Approved base types include concrete slab, concrete pavers, gravel, cinder blocks, and solid wood deck. Three adults are required for installation. For the Harvia WALL stove, the electrician must run the power line through the dedicated vent hole in the wall panel and close the vent before mounting the heater -- the vent cannot be opened once the heater is installed. All electrical connections must be made by a certified licensed electrician using copper wire rated at 90 degrees Celsius minimum; aluminum wiring is not permitted. The exterior clear waterproof stain must be reapplied annually to prevent UV-related graying of the hemlock. The infrared and traditional stove systems do not operate simultaneously. Infrared operation is ideal when exterior temperature is 45 degrees Fahrenheit or warmer; the traditional stove operates at any exterior temperature.
