If the Carinthia is built for three, the Gargellen is built for a crowd. The Golden Designs Gargellen GDI-8025-01 is a 5-person outdoor hybrid sauna -- the largest hybrid model in the Golden Designs outdoor lineup -- and a genuine backyard wellness destination for families, friends, and anyone who has ever wished they had more room to breathe, stretch, and sweat.

 

Like the Carinthia, the Gargellen gives you two completely independent ways to use your sauna. The 8.0 kW Harvia wall-mounted traditional stove heats the room to authentic Finnish temperatures -- up to 190 degrees Fahrenheit -- and works in any exterior temperature year-round. Pour water over the included sauna stones for steam and the full traditional experience. The PureTech Full Spectrum Infrared system delivers a gentler, deeper form of therapeutic heat using 10 infrared emitters: 4 Carbon PureTech Near Zero EMF heating panels and 6 near infrared heating elements. Full spectrum infrared produces far, mid, and near wavelengths simultaneously, offering the most complete therapeutic range available in an infrared system. Each mode is completely independent -- you can never run both at the same time, and the main power switch makes it easy to select which one is active.

 

This is the new 2026 flat-roof model -- a redesign from the previous generation's sloped-roof GDI-8125-01. The updated profile is cleaner, more contemporary, and more at home alongside modern outdoor architecture. The structure is built from 100% Natural Reforested Canadian Hemlock with a waterproof exterior stain that must be reapplied within one month of assembly and 2-3 times per year from then on.

 

The dimensional diagram from the official owner's manual confirms the Gargellen's footprint: 79.25 inches wide including the floor rail assembly, 78 inches of exterior cabinet width, and 74.25 inches of interior sauna width. Depth is 56.75 inches exterior and 53.25 inches interior. Interior height is 78 inches. The 2-panel exterior roof system includes a front overhang section that overlaps the rear section, allowing rain to run off properly. The roof can support up to approximately 20 pounds of snow per square inch.

 

Inside, the Gargellen features two bench levels: a main bench supported by three bench supports -- one large sliding unit and one L-shaped unit joined by a third spanning connector -- with both a long step and a short step. The backrest mounts to the rear wall approximately 9 inches above the bench surface. The bench heater near-infrared element on the bench support panel has its own on/off switch independent of the main infrared system.

 

The full feature suite includes interior chromotherapy color lighting with red light therapy mode, interior backrests with accent lighting, exterior front overhang roof accent lighting, a dual control panel system (Sauna Control Panel for temperature and timer, Light/BT Control Panel for audio and lighting), Bluetooth audio, built-in FM radio, and integrated performance speakers. The chromotherapy remote must be used from inside the sauna room for the signal to register.

 

Three adults are required for assembly. Tools needed: battery-operated or hand-held Phillips screwdriver, rubber mallet, and two ladders.

Compatible with sauna stones for steam. Works in any exterior temperature year-round. Installed by a certified electrician per the stove manufacturer's manual. Power line must be routed through the vent hole in the wall panel before the heater is mounted.
• PureTech Full Spectrum Infrared System -- 10 total IR emitters: 4 Carbon PureTech Near Zero EMF heating panels and 6 near infrared heating elements producing a total of 3,700 watts (3.7 kW).
