Description

There is a category of outdoor sauna that is not designed to be tucked into a corner of the yard or positioned as a secondary feature. The Kaskinen is not that kind of sauna. At 6-person capacity, 1,600 pounds assembled, and a barn silhouette that reads as a standalone structure from across the property, the Kaskinen is built to anchor an outdoor wellness space. It is the largest and most capable model in Golden Designs' Barn Series Hybrid lineup, and the combination of systems it puts in one cabin -- a Harvia "WALL" 8kW traditional stove and 15 total full-spectrum PureTech infrared emitters -- makes it the most flexible outdoor sauna in the lineup as well.

 

The Kaskinen is designated as a custom production unit with limited quantity available. The exterior is an all-weather composite construction built to handle outdoor exposure without the maintenance requirements of a natural wood exterior. The interior is finished entirely in natural Canadian Red Cedar -- a deliberate choice for the aromatic quality, heat retention characteristics, and natural beauty of red cedar in a sauna environment. Red cedar's naturally occurring oils give the interior its distinctive warm tone and the unmistakable aroma that is, for many people, inseparable from the traditional sauna experience. All interior surfaces -- walls, ceiling, benches, backrest -- are red cedar, kept natural without stain or finish to preserve the pure cedar environment inside the heat zone.

 

The infrared system sets the Kaskinen apart from every other model in the Golden Designs outdoor lineup. With 15 total IR emitters -- 7 Carbon PureTech Near Zero EMF FAR infrared heating panels and 8 near-infrared heating elements -- it delivers the most comprehensive full-spectrum coverage in the range, positioned across the wall panels for full-body exposure at near-zero EMF. The FAR infrared panels carry PureTech's Near Zero EMF rating, which sets the standard for infrared sauna safety. The infrared system is ideal when exterior temperatures are 45 degrees Fahrenheit or warmer. The traditional side runs on a Harvia "WALL" 8kW stove with a dedicated main power switch that selects between stove mode, infrared mode, or off -- the two systems never run simultaneously, but the mode switch is immediate and handled from inside the cabin with a single knob.

 

The interior of the Kaskinen is equipped for an extended, social sauna session: bench seating for six adults, a backrest with accent lighting at bench level, an interior galaxy star ceiling color therapy lighting system that replaces the standard chromotherapy of smaller models with an overhead star field effect, and a Light/Bluetooth control panel that manages ceiling lights, bench lights, and Bluetooth audio independently of the main sauna controls. A separate sauna control panel handles the infrared system's temperature and timer settings. Both panels use touch key technology with a 3-minute auto-lock safety feature. The built-in performance speakers carry audio from any Bluetooth-paired device. The FM radio function is available via the control panel. The clear tempered glass door (not bronze tinted -- a distinction specific to this model) lets more natural light into the space.

 

The Kaskinen is assembled from a panel system that requires four adults, a battery-operated Phillips screwdriver, rubber mallet, claw hammer, leveler, and two ladders. The roof panel installs in two sections with internal wire routing for the ceiling lighting connections. The Harvia stove mounts at the wall via the dedicated vent hole procedure required for all Harvia WALL installations: the power line must be run through the vent hole and the vent closed before the heater is mounted, as the vent cannot be opened once the heater is in place.

INSTALLATION NOTE: The location must be dry, level, and away from any water source. Four adults are required for assembly. The surface must support the assembled weight plus occupants, which can well exceed 1,000 lbs; a concrete slab, concrete pavers, gravel, cinder blocks, or solid wood deck is recommended. For the Harvia WALL stove, the electrician must run the power line through the vent hole in the wall panel and close the vent before mounting the heater -- the vent cannot be opened once the heater is installed. The roof panel installs in two sections; wire harnesses for the ceiling lighting must be connected during installation before the roof tile sections are replaced. All electrical connections must be made by a certified licensed electrician using copper wire rated at 90 degrees Celsius minimum; aluminum wiring is not permitted. The infrared and traditional stove systems do not operate simultaneously. The main power switch must be set to position 0 before switching between heating modes.
