Description

The Narvik is the entry point into Golden Designs' Modern Series traditional sauna lineup -- and it makes a strong argument that entry point does not mean compromise. At 2-person capacity with a 59.5 by 71 by 88.3 inch exterior and an all-weather composite Espresso exterior over a completely natural Canadian Red Cedar interior, the Narvik is the same category of sauna as the 6-person Bergen, sized down to the footprint that works for a couple, a solo buyer who wants room, or anyone whose outdoor or indoor space calls for something compact without sacrificing the quality of the heat experience. The stove is a 6kW unit with built-in controls. The interior is red cedar. The control panel has FM radio, Bluetooth, and a full oversize chromotherapy system. Nothing is stripped away except the square footage.

 

The Narvik is a custom production unit with limited quantity available, rated for both indoor and outdoor installation. The exterior is all-weather composite construction in an Espresso finish that handles year-round outdoor exposure without the stain maintenance that natural wood demands. The interior is entirely natural Canadian Red Cedar -- walls, ceiling, bench, and backrest -- left without any stain or finish because the interior of this sauna must remain completely natural. Canadian Red Cedar's aromatic oils are present from the first session, and the warm cedar interior is as much a part of the experience as the heat itself. A small percentage of the population with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity may have an adverse reaction to Canadian Red Cedar's aroma; the manual advises discontinuing use if symptoms occur.

 

The 6kW stove runs on a dedicated 240V/30AMP hardwired circuit. The lighting and audio system runs on a completely separate 120V/15AMP outlet. Two circuits, two independent systems. The Light/BT control panel manages the oversize chromotherapy color lighting system with red light therapy, bench accent lighting, FM radio, and Bluetooth audio through the built-in performance speakers -- all independent of the stove. The control panel is located on the rear wall panel, alongside the performance speakers. The upper vent is on the left side wall panel, the lower vent is on the right side wall panel, both toward the front of the sauna room. The control panel locks after 3 minutes of inactivity and requires pressing and holding the power button to unlock. The chromotherapy lighting is operated via the included remote from inside the cabin, with color selection, white/reading light, and red light therapy all accessible from the same remote.

 

The Narvik uses a single bench level -- first-level bench support and bench only. The two-tier system used in the 6-person Bergen does not apply to this model. The backrest connects its LED harness to the rear wall panel wiring before it is mounted. The stove guard wood housing assembles around the heater and mounts to the wall panel after the certified electrician has installed the stove and run the power cord through the vent hole in the right side wall panel -- the vent cannot be opened once the heater is in place. Assembly requires only two adults (vs. three for the Drammen and Bergen), a battery-operated Phillips screwdriver, rubber mallet, claw hammer, leveler, and two ladders.

 

Warranty registration requires mailing the completed warranty card, with a copy of the sales receipt, to Golden Designs within 60 days of purchase date. The warranty is void if the card is not mailed within that window.

• Traditional Stove Only -- No Infrared -- The Narvik is a pure traditional sauna with a 6kW stove as the sole heat source. No infrared panels, no mode switching. The full traditional steam and loyly experience in the Modern Series all-weather cabinet at 2-person scale.
• 6kW Traditional Stove with Built-In Controls -- Wall-mounted inside the cabin, powered by a dedicated 240V/30AMP hardwired circuit installed by a certified electrician. Ideal operating temperature is 170 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit; maximum is 190 degrees.
• Stove Guard Included -- A wood housing assembles around the stove and mounts to the interior wall panel to protect occupants from the heater surface. Must be installed after the heater is mounted by a certified electrician.
• 2-Person Capacity -- Interior dimensions of 55.4 inches wide by 53.4 inches deep by 75 inches tall provide a focused, private sauna environment for two adults.
• Outdoor and Indoor Rated -- The GDI-8202-01 is rated for both outdoor and indoor installation. The all-weather composite Espresso exterior handles outdoor exposure without annual stain maintenance. A waterproof cover is recommended when not in use outdoors.
• All-Weather Composite Exterior with Canadian Red Cedar Interior -- The exterior is all-weather composite (Espresso finish) requiring no stain maintenance. The interior is fully lined in natural Canadian Red Cedar -- walls, ceiling, bench, and backrest -- left completely natural. The interior must remain natural; no stain or finish should be applied.
• Custom Production Unit -- The Narvik is a custom production, limited-quantity model. Availability is subject to Golden Designs' production schedule.
• Clear Tempered Glass Door -- The entry door is clear tempered glass providing full visibility and maximum natural light into the Canadian Red Cedar interior.
• Single-Tier Bench -- The GDI-8202-01 uses only the first-level bench support and bench. The two-tier bench system of the 6-person Bergen does not apply to this model.
• Oversize Interior Chromotherapy Color Lighting System with Red Light Therapy -- Operated via remote control from inside the cabin. Functions include color selection, white/reading light mode, and red light therapy (press the white light button twice). Remote must be used from inside the sauna room. Control panel chromotherapy button turns the system on/off; remote controls all color and mode selections.
• Interior Bench Accent Lighting -- Bench-level accent lighting connects via LED harness during bench installation, controlled via the Light/BT control panel.
• Exterior Roof Accent Lighting -- Integrated accent lighting along the exterior roofline, controlled via the roof lights button on the control panel.
• Single Control Panel on Rear Wall Panel -- The Light/BT control panel and built-in performance speakers are both located on the REAR WALL PANEL. Upper vent is on the left side wall panel; lower vent is on the right side wall panel, both toward the front of the cabin. This is the same layout as the Drammen (GDI-8203-01) and Bergen (GDI-8206-01).
• Touch Key Control Panel with FM Radio and Bluetooth -- Manages chromotherapy lighting, bench lights, FM radio, and Bluetooth audio. Touch key technology with a 3-minute auto-lock (press and hold the power button to unlock; screen displays "LOC" when locked). Bluetooth pairs without a password; display shows "bLU". FM accessible via the FM button; TUN-/TUN+ scrolls stations; press and hold FM to auto-search.

INSTALLATION NOTE: Location must be dry, level, and away from any water source. Two adults are required for assembly. The surface must support the assembled weight plus occupants; a concrete slab, concrete pavers, gravel, cinder blocks, or solid wood deck is recommended. If placed directly on ground, support cradles must rest on cinder blocks or similar structure to prevent settling. The Narvik requires TWO separate electrical circuits: a 240V/30AMP hardwired circuit for the stove, and a separate 120V/15AMP outlet for the Light/BT control panel. For the stove, the electrician must run the power cord through the vent hole in the RIGHT SIDE WALL PANEL and close the vent before mounting the heater -- the vent cannot be opened once the heater is installed. The stove guard wood housing installs after the heater is mounted. When installing the exterior roof panel, adhesive roofing paper must cover the center seam where the two roof pieces meet. All electrical connections must be made by a certified licensed electrician using copper wire rated at 90 degrees Celsius minimum; aluminum wiring is not permitted. Warranty registration requires mailing the completed warranty card and a copy of the sales receipt to Golden Designs within 60 days of purchase -- warranty is void if not mailed within that window.
