Description

There is a version of the hybrid outdoor sauna argument that gets cleaner the smaller the footprint gets. A 2-person cabin does not need the complexity of a 6-person installation to justify it -- it needs the right performance in the right amount of space, and the ability to switch between two fundamentally different heat experiences without switching saunas. The Nora makes that case. At 59.5 inches wide and 71 inches deep, it is one of the most compact outdoor hybrid saunas on the market, small enough to fit in a corner of a yard, on a covered patio, or in a spare room, but complete enough to deliver the same dual-system hybrid capability as Golden Designs' larger Modern Series models. One cabin. Two heating systems. Switch between them in seconds.

 

The Nora is a custom production unit with limited quantity available and is rated for both indoor and outdoor installation -- a meaningful specification for buyers who want a hybrid sauna that can live on a covered patio, in a sunroom, or in a dedicated wellness space inside the home without requiring separate outdoor infrastructure. The exterior is all-weather composite construction in an Espresso finish that handles outdoor exposure without the stain maintenance that natural wood demands. The interior is entirely natural Canadian Red Cedar: walls, ceiling, bench, and backrest, left without stain or finish because the interior must remain completely natural. Canadian Red Cedar's aromatic oils create the characteristic warm scent that fills the space from the first session.

 

The infrared side runs on 6 total emitters -- 2 Carbon PureTech Near Zero EMF FAR infrared heating panels and 4 near-infrared heating elements -- positioned on the wall panels and pre-mounted at the factory before shipment. This is the entry-level emitter count in the Modern Series lineup (the 3-person Visby carries 9, the 6-person Karlstad carries 13), but it is scaled correctly for the Nora's 2-person interior volume and is the right starting point for a private daily wellness routine. The FAR infrared panels carry PureTech's Near Zero EMF rating, and the ideal infrared session runs between 118 and 132 degrees Fahrenheit. The traditional stove is a 6kW unit with built-in controls -- a step down from the 8kW used in the larger hybrid models, and appropriately sized for the Nora's compact interior. The stove's ideal operating range is 170 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit, with the ability to heat to 190 degrees for a more intense session.

 

A critical distinction between the Nora and the larger Modern Series models: the power supply for the infrared heating system is a separate component that mounts to the lower right corner of the rear wall panel during assembly -- it ships packaged with the right side wall panel and must be located and installed at that step. The heater components themselves are pre-mounted on the wall panels at the factory, so no field mounting of the infrared elements is required. The main power switch controls which system receives power: position 1 routes power to the stove, position 2 routes power to the infrared system, position 0 is off. The two systems never run simultaneously.

 

Inside, the Nora runs the same dual-panel control system as the larger Modern Series models: a Sauna Control Panel for infrared temperature, timer, and on/off; and a Light/BT Control Panel for the oversize chromotherapy color lighting system with red light therapy, bench accent lighting, FM radio, and Bluetooth audio through the built-in performance speakers. Both panels use touch key technology with a 3-minute auto-lock. The bench is a single-tier configuration -- the Nora uses one bench level only, not the two-tier system of the 6-person Karlstad. Assembly requires only two adults (vs. three for the larger models), a battery-operated Phillips screwdriver, rubber mallet, claw hammer, leveler, and two ladders.

Features

• True Hybrid Heating System -- The Nora houses both a 6kW traditional sauna stove and a full-spectrum PureTech infrared system in the same cabin. A main power switch selects between stove (position 1), infrared (position 2), or off (position 0). The two systems never operate simultaneously.

It mounts to the lower right corner of the rear wall panel during assembly using the provided 3.5x25mm screws. This is unique to the 2 and 3-person models; the 6-person model does not have this step.
• 6kW Traditional Stove with Built-In Controls -- A 6kW stove with built-in controls, appropriately sized for the Nora's compact interior. Ideal operating temperature is 170 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit; maximum is 190 degrees. Runs on a dedicated 240V/30AMP hardwired circuit.

INSTALLATION NOTE: Location must be dry, level, and away from any water source. Two adults are required for assembly. The surface must support the assembled weight plus occupants. Approved base types include concrete slab, concrete pavers, gravel, cinder blocks, and solid wood deck. During assembly, the infrared power supply (shipped with the right side wall panel) must be located and screwed to the lower right corner of the rear wall panel before further assembly proceeds. For the stove, the electrician must run the power line through the vent hole in the right side wall panel and close the vent before mounting the heater -- the vent cannot be opened once the heater is installed. All electrical connections must be made by a certified licensed electrician using copper wire rated at 90 degrees Celsius minimum; aluminum wiring is not permitted. The Nora requires a 240V/30AMP circuit -- not the 240V/40AMP used by the 3 and 6-person Modern Series models. The main power switch must be turned to position 0 before switching between heating modes. The infrared and traditional stove systems must not operate simultaneously. For every four hours of use, shut the sauna down for one hour to cool down.
