A 3-person traditional sauna does not need to compromise on the experience to fit a smaller footprint. The Savonlinna proves that. At 69 inches wide by 68 inches deep by 89 inches tall, it carries the full barn silhouette of the larger Kaarina in a compact that works for a couple, a small household, or a solo buyer who wants generous headroom and room to move rather than a tight 2-person enclosure. The interior runs 63 inches wide by 62 inches deep by 82 inches tall -- proportioned right, lined entirely in natural Canadian Red Cedar, and heated by the same Harvia "WALL" 8kW stove used in the full-size 6-person model.

 

The Savonlinna is a custom production unit with limited quantity available. The exterior is all-weather composite construction built to handle outdoor exposure year-round without requiring the stain maintenance that natural wood exteriors demand. The interior is a different story entirely -- every surface is natural Canadian Red Cedar: walls, ceiling, benches, backrest, and floor, all left without stain or applied finish because the interior must remain completely natural. Red cedar is the material that defines the traditional sauna experience for most of the world, and that is not incidental. Its naturally occurring oils create the aroma, its fiber structure creates the warmth, and the visible grain of a well-installed cedar interior creates the aesthetic that makes a sauna feel like a sauna rather than a heated room. The Savonlinna delivers all of that in a structure that weighs 1,185 pounds assembled and does not require the footprint of a 6-person cabin to do it.

 

The Harvia "WALL" 8kW stove wall-mounts inside the cabin per the assembly instructions, with a dedicated 240V/40AMP hardwired circuit installed by a certified electrician. The lighting and audio system runs independently on a separate 120V/15AMP outlet: a Light/BT control panel manages the interior galaxy star ceiling color therapy lighting, the bench accent lighting, FM radio, and Bluetooth audio through the built-in performance speakers. The panel uses touch key technology with a 3-minute auto-lock safety feature. Both circuits are required; neither powers the other. The bronze privacy tempered glass door faces out with the wood handle inside and stainless steel handle outside, providing one-directional privacy from outside the cabin while letting ambient light through into the red cedar interior.

 

Unlike the 6-person Kaarina, the Savonlinna uses a single lower bench support rather than the upper-and-lower two-support system of the larger model, and includes a bench foot step -- a separate step panel that mounts on the floor panel in front of the bench support at the installer's preferred position. The stove guard wood housing assembles around the Harvia stove to protect occupants from the heater surface. The sandglass, wooden bucket, and scoop ship with the unit.

 

Assembly is designed for two adults on most steps, with the manual noting that two adults are sufficient for the 3-person side and left side wall panel lifts (versus the two-to-four required for the larger 6-person model). A battery-operated Phillips screwdriver, rubber mallet, claw hammer, leveler, and two ladders are required. The roof installs in two sections with internal wire routing for the ceiling lighting connections made before tile sections are replaced and the stainless steel flange is installed at the ridge.

INSTALLATION NOTE: The location must be dry, level, and away from any water source. Two adults are sufficient for most assembly steps on the 3-person model. Tools required: battery-operated Phillips screwdriver, rubber mallet, claw hammer, leveler, and two ladders. The surface must be capable of supporting the assembled weight plus occupants. Approved base types include concrete slab, concrete pavers, gravel, cinder blocks, and solid wood deck. For the Harvia WALL stove, the electrician must run the power line through the vent hole in the wall panel and close the vent before mounting the heater -- the vent cannot be opened once the heater is installed. The roof installs in two sections; ceiling light wire connections must be made during installation before tile sections are replaced and the stainless steel flange is installed. The blue antenna wire at the circuit connection junction box must be uncoiled and extended before the bench support is installed. All electrical connections must be made by a certified licensed electrician using copper wire rated at 90 degrees Celsius minimum; aluminum wiring is not permitted. Do not use the sauna during electrical storms. For every four hours of use, shut the sauna down for one hour to cool down.
