Description

Every barrel sauna gives you the curved-wall efficiency that makes traditional sauna heat work the way it should. The Zurich gives you that, plus something most barrel saunas don't: a view. In place of a standard solid rear wall, the Zurich is built with a full circular bronze-tinted acrylic rear panel -- a true picture window that runs the entire diameter of the barrel. Whether the sauna looks out over a tree line, a pool, or open sky, the Zurich turns the session into something more than heat -- it becomes a place to actually sit and look at the world while the body does its work, with the bronze tint keeping the view one-directional so privacy from outside is never a concern.

 

The barrel is built from Pacific Premium Cedar, left in its natural unstained finish so the wood's true color and grain carry the entire exterior. Pacific cedar brings the density, natural oil content, and weather resistance that make it the right choice for permanent outdoor barrel construction, and the curved stave format does what flat-wall saunas can't: it eliminates dead air pockets in the corners, concentrates heat where people actually sit, and lets the interior reach its full operating range faster than a comparable rectangular room. At 4-person capacity, the Zurich is sized for real group use -- family sessions, couples who want the room to stretch out, or anyone who has outgrown a 2-person barrel and wants more space without losing the format they already love.

 

The acrylic rear wall is engineered into the structural assembly itself -- it isn't a window cut into the staves, it's a two-piece structural panel that locks into the same grooved joints the wood staves use, tensioned by the same stainless steel bands that hold the rest of the barrel together. That means the Zurich's panoramic view comes without compromising the structural integrity or thermal seal that makes a barrel sauna work. Inside, an interior backrest with accent lighting runs along the bench, controlled from an interior LED panel that lets you set the mood independent of the stove. The bronze privacy tempered glass door at the front matches the tint of the rear panel, giving the whole barrel a cohesive, finished look from every angle.

 

The stove is a 6kW unit with built-in controls, reaching the traditional 170 to 185 degree ideal range with the ability to push to 190 degrees for a more intense session. An 8kW upgrade is available at time of order for buyers who want faster heat-up or are installing in a colder climate. The sandglass, bucket, and scoop ship in the box, so the Zurich arrives ready for an authentic first session the moment assembly is finished.

 

The Zurich ships in three crates and assembles with standard tools -- a battery-powered Phillips screwdriver, claw hammer, and 17mm wrench -- with three adults recommended for the steps that involve holding the front wall panel and acrylic rear sections in place while the staves go up. INSTALLATION NOTE: The sauna must be placed on a level, dry surface capable of supporting the assembled weight of the sauna plus occupants, which can exceed 1,000 lbs. Approved base types include concrete slab, concrete pavers, gravel, cinder blocks, and solid wood deck. Support cradles should rest on cinder blocks or a similar structure to prevent settling into the ground over time. Do not move the sauna after assembly. All electrical connections must be made by a certified electrician using copper wire with a 90-degree Celsius rating; aluminum wiring cannot be used. Stainless steel bands must be inspected and tightened every 4 to 6 months. Some water seepage between staves and around the acrylic panel seams is normal for outdoor barrel saunas and will not damage the structure; it typically dries quickly during use.
