Description

A built-in grill earns its place in an outdoor kitchen by doing things a freestanding cart grill cannot: integrating cleanly into the surrounding structure, holding heat more efficiently because the island contains it on three sides, and anchoring the entire outdoor kitchen layout as the piece everything else is designed around. The Videl Gran Fuego 42 is built for that role. At 42 inches wide, five Cast Stainless Steel Onyx Pro Burners, and 114,000 BTU of total output, it is designed to occupy the center position of a serious outdoor kitchen and perform at the level the size suggests.

 

The burner system is the core of the Gran Fuego 42 and where Videl concentrates the most of its engineering. The five Cast Stainless Steel Onyx Pro Burners are built to a commercial-grade specification -- cast, not tubular, because cast stainless steel holds its shape and maintains even gas distribution over years of high-heat cycling in ways that formed steel burners do not. Four of the five burners are the primary cooking burners covering the 770 square inch primary cooking area. The fifth is a built-in infrared burner positioned for precision searing at intense heat -- the kind of surface temperature that caramelizes the exterior of a steak without overcooking the interior, which is what separates a properly seared piece of protein from one that just gets hot. The Flame Thrower ignition system lights the burners electronically. Flame Stabilizing Grids and Flame Tamers sit below the cooking grates to distribute heat evenly across the cooking surface and vaporize drippings into flavor. The full-width drip tray spans the entire grill interior for clean, contained grease management.

 

Above the burners, the 9mm stainless steel cooking rods -- thicker than the 6mm or 7mm rods on most grill grates in this category -- retain heat and produce deep, consistent sear marks without the temperature drop that thinner rods cause when cold protein hits the surface. An adjustable and removable warming rack adds 243 square inches of secondary cooking area for holding finished proteins, toasting buns, or keeping sides warm while the main grill stays hot. Total cooking surface is 1,013 square inches.

 

The Hood System on the Gran Fuego 42 is double-lined and designed for natural convection -- the curved interior profile channels hot air in a continuous loop that eliminates hot spots and cold zones and allows the hood to function as a genuine convection oven when fully closed, appropriate for smoking, indirect cooking, and roasting at temperature. CoolGrip handles on the hood and CoolTouch Knobs on the front panel let the cook operate the grill without pot holders. Dual interior lights illuminate the cooking surface. A premium temperature gauge on the hood face reads the hood temperature accurately. The Quick Release Panel on the front provides access to internal components without disassembly of the island.

 

The grill ships ready for Natural Gas installation. A gas conversion kit is included for Liquid Propane conversion. All gas connections must be made by a licensed gas professional in accordance with local codes. Natural gas supply pressure must be set to 4.0 inches water column with the supplied NG regulator. LP supply pressure must be set to 11 inches water column with an LP regulator.

INSTALLATION NOTE: This grill is designed for built-in installation into an outdoor kitchen island. The outdoor kitchen cavity must be adequately vented -- failure to vent can result in fire or explosion. All gas connections must be made by a licensed gas professional. Never use this grill in enclosed areas. For Natural Gas: use the supplied NG regulator set to 4.0" water column pressure. For Liquid Propane: use an LP regulator set to 11" water column pressure. Perform a leak test before each use using soapy water solution -- never use an open flame to check for gas leaks. The grill must be installed per the installation guide on pages 8-24 of the owner's manual; failure to comply with basic setup instructions may void all warranties. Do not use the grill without first leak testing all gas connections.
