The Avera 48 has been a defining model in the Dekko lineup not because it is the largest or the most technical but because it gets the fundamentals right: the right size for the broadest range of outdoor spaces, clean oblong proportions with crisp line indentations that give it a minimal but deliberate aesthetic, and the same lightweight concrete construction that makes every Dekko model viable where traditional concrete fire pits cannot go. At 48 inches long, 25.75 inches deep, and 16 inches tall, the Avera 48 fits a two-person lounge arrangement, a dining table setting, or a terrace corner just as naturally as a larger model anchors a wide patio. It is the version of this fire pit for buyers who want the format right, not the format oversized.

 

The vessel is 100% concrete, handcrafted by Dekko in North America from their proprietary ultra-light formula -- the same integral cast construction across the entire Dekko lineup that will not chip, patina, or peel over time. At 145 pounds, the Avera 48 is not only less than half the weight of a traditional concrete fire pit at comparable dimensions, it is the lightest of the rectangular Dekko fire pit models -- lighter than the Avera 60, the Sonoma 56, and the Sonoma 72 -- which makes it the most versatile in terms of where it can actually be placed. Balconies, rooftop terraces, narrow side patios, elevated decks with weight restrictions: the 145-pound weight opens all of those locations that a heavier vessel would require structural consultation to use. Because each unit is individually handmade, natural variations in texture and color are part of the character of the piece; Dekko recommends requesting physical finish samples before finalizing a color selection. Six concrete colors are available: Ash, Charcoal, Clay, Limestone, Natural, and Sandstone. Three stone media options ship with the unit: Ivory Beachstone, Slate Beachstone, or Black Lava Rock.

 

The fire system delivers 65,000 BTU in Match Lit configuration -- a chrome key valve with adjustable flame output, no electricity required. The Electronic Ignition upgrade reaches 115,000 BTU on a 120VAC or 24VAC GFCI-protected outdoor outlet, operating in On/Off mode. An LP/NG convertible burner is included and ships configured for the fuel type ordered. For LP installations, the tank will not fit inside this unit -- all LP applications require an external tank with a supply line. A propane tank cover in matching concrete color is available as an optional accessory for buyers who want to conceal the external tank.

 

Three additional optional accessories are available specifically for the Avera 48: an aluminum tabletop lid (AVER48-TT) that converts the fire pit into a functional flat surface when not in use, a vinyl weather cover (AVER48-VC) for weather protection, and a vinyl weather cover with wind guard (AVER48-VC-WG). INSTALLATION NOTE: A certified gas technician must install all units. All electrical connections for EI must be made by a licensed electrician. EI requires a 120VAC or 24VAC GFCI-protected outdoor outlet -- GFCI not included. LP tank will not fit inside the Avera 48 -- an external LP tank with supply line is required. Do not block ventilation openings. For combustible surface installation, the FPI-DECK20SQ basalt deck insulation kit is required -- concrete pad must be a minimum of 1 inch thick. Do not cover burner orifices when placing stone media. Place lava rock on the burner surface first; decorative stone is placed over lava rock. Inspect and discard stones with visible hairline cracks before placement. On first use, burn for 1 to 2 hours consecutively while keeping a safe distance in case of stone popping or cracking. Provide a minimum of 84 inches (7 feet) of clearance above the burner. Inspect unit upon freight delivery before the driver departs.
