Description

Most fire pits are not designed with a balcony in mind. They are designed for grade-level patios with a gas stub-out nearby and no concern for the weight a deck or rooftop can actually support. The Element is designed for exactly those situations -- and every other situation where a standard concrete or metal fire pit is simply too heavy, too large, or too conspicuous. At 20.5 inches in diameter, 16 inches tall, and 50 pounds, the Element is the smallest fire feature in the HPC by Dekko Lightweight Concrete lineup, and the one most specifically suited to balconies, terraces, rooftop installations, courtyards, and anywhere that calls for an intimate fire without a large footprint.

 

The vessel is 100% concrete, handcrafted in North America by Dekko from the same ultra-light proprietary material that puts every piece in this lineup at less than half the weight of traditional concrete construction. The Element weighs 50 pounds. A traditional concrete fire pit of comparable dimensions would weigh well over 100 pounds. That weight difference is the reason the Element can go on a rooftop deck, a condominium balcony, or a commercial terrace where a heavier vessel could not be safely installed. The material looks and feels like concrete -- natural texture, authentic character, genuine weight and mass -- without the structural loading that traditional concrete demands. Six concrete colors are available: Ash, Charcoal, Clay, Limestone, Natural, and Sandstone. Three stone media options ship with the unit: Ivory Beachstone, Slate Beachstone, or Black Lava Rock.

 

The cup-shaped bowl form with barreled walls is intentional: the curved walls concentrate flame and radiate heat toward the person closest to the bowl, which is the right dynamic for a single-person or couple's fire feature positioned near a chair or a railing edge. It is not a group gathering fire pit -- that is the Serenade, the Alea, or the Avera. The Element is the quiet fire that sits at the corner of a terrace and makes the whole outdoor space feel inhabited.

 

The burner system is engineered and certified by HPC and delivers 65,000 BTU in Match Lit configuration, with an Electronic Ignition upgrade delivering 90,000 BTU on a 120VAC or 24VAC circuit. The fire pit arrives pre-assembled with the burner installed. A convertible LP/NG burner is included -- the unit ships configured for the fuel type ordered, with a conversion kit available separately for future fuel source changes. The EI version is compatible with home automation systems, wall switches, and pool controller integration through a licensed electrician. Ships with decorative stone media in the selected type. Products ship in 2 to 4 weeks via freight carrier. All shipments are curbside delivery; unit must be inspected upon arrival before the driver leaves.

• Hairline Cracks Are Normal -- Hairline cracks may occur in the concrete over time due to extreme weather conditions and heat exposure. Per Dekko, hairline cracks do not impact the integrity or longevity of the fire pit. All Dekko concrete is fibre-reinforced to prevent cracks from growing.
• Weather Resistant Year-Round -- Dekko concrete fire pits are designed to withstand all weather conditions and can be left outside year-round. Protective covers are recommended for extended periods of non-use, particularly in winter months, to protect the burner and prevent stone cracking from moisture.

INSTALLATION NOTE: A certified gas technician must install all units. All gas connections must be made by a licensed gas technician in compliance with local codes. Electronic ignition power cord requires a 120VAC outdoor-rated, GFCI-protected outlet (GFCI not included). Ensure the fire pit is properly ventilating through the base ventilation openings -- do not block ventilation holes. For installation on combustible surfaces (wood decks), the FPI-DECK20SQ deck insulation kit is required. The concrete pad in the kit must be a minimum of 1 inch thick; alternative thicknesses must be approved by HPC. Do not recess the fire pit below the deck surface. Do not cover burner orifices when arranging lava rock or decorative stone. Lava rock must be placed directly on the burner surface first; decorative stone is placed over the lava rock. Inspect and discard all stones with hairline cracks before placing around the burner. When using the fire pit for the first time, burn for 1 to 2 hours consecutively while keeping a safe distance in case of stone breakage or popping. For LP applications, turn on the tank slowly to allow pressure to equalize before turning on the key valve. Gas inlet pressure: Natural Gas minimum 3.5 in WC; Liquid Propane minimum 8 in WC. Inspect unit upon freight delivery arrival before the driver departs. All shipments are curbside only.
