Description

Copper does something that powder coat and concrete cannot: it changes. The HPC Fire Mesa 32 Inch Round Hammered Copper Gas Fire Bowl arrives with an oil-rubbed, hand-hammered finish that already carries the character of something made with intention -- each copper sheet individually worked by artisans at HPC's facility before being shaped into the tapered bowl form that defines the Mesa. And from that first session onward, the copper continues its work, developing the naturally distressed, aged look that is not a flaw in the material but the point of it. A copper fire bowl does not look like it just came out of a box a year after it is installed. It looks like it has always been there.

 

The Mesa tapers from a 32-inch top diameter down to a 15-inch base, standing 15 inches tall. The tapered geometry is a design decision with a functional consequence: it positions the flame at a comfortable viewing height for seated guests while keeping the bowl's visual weight low and proportional to the seating group around it. The bowl is deep enough to house the control box of the Electronic Ignition system inside the vessel itself, giving the flexibility to install the Mesa at column level or flush to the ground without exposing hardware above the rim. The side access door allows for maintenance and inspection without disturbing the fire media layout, and spacers are included to provide the minimum 3/4-inch elevation gap required for proper ventilation through the base.

 

The Mesa is available in two bowl types -- Fire, and Fire and Water. The Fire bowl is the standard configuration, available with Electronic Ignition On/Off or Match Lit ignition, in Natural Gas or Liquid Propane. The Fire and Water bowl adds an integrated water scupper that allows the Mesa to function as a water feature, using a 1-inch FIP fitting for connection to a pool pump. The Fire and Water configuration uses 12VAC power (requiring the HPC/SEBCO 12VAC 100W power supply, sold separately) and is specifically designed for poolside applications where a 12-volt system is the standard.

 

Two burner options are available for each configuration. The standard Penta burner produces 65,000 BTU on the Electronic Ignition configuration. The Torpedo burner upgrade -- which uses HPC's patented nozzle design to compress gas flow and introduce oxygen at the nozzle ports for taller, fuller flames -- produces 90,000 BTU on the Electronic Ignition configuration. Match Lit configurations deliver 65,000 BTU regardless of burner type. Both options ship with the fully assembled insert and 2 bags of fire rock and 30 lbs of fire glass media included. INSTALLATION NOTE: The Mesa bowl must be placed on a level surface. The bowl must be elevated a minimum of 3/4 inch above the mounting surface using the provided spacers; a minimum 6-inch diameter hole is required in the bottom of the bowl for ventilation. Do not block ventilation openings. For poolside Fire and Water installations, the 1-inch FIP fitting connects to the pool pump return line; a pool professional must complete this connection. The Fire and Water model (MESA32W) requires the HPC/SEBCO 12VAC 100W power supply (sold separately) -- do not use standard 120VAC power supply with the MESA32W model. All gas connections must be made by a certified gas technician. All AC electrical connections must be made by a certified electrician. Natural gas minimum supply pressure: 3.5 in W.C.; maximum 7.0 in W.C. Liquid propane minimum supply pressure: 8.0 in W.C.; maximum 11.0 in W.C.
