Description

There are fire pits that accent an outdoor space and there are fire pits that define it. The HPC Fire Phoenix is the second kind. At 47 inches long by 25 inches wide by 18 inches tall, the Phoenix is a large-format, hand-hammered, oil-rubbed copper fire pit designed around the H-Burner configuration -- the same horizontal bar geometry that HPC uses in its professional rectangular metal enclosures, applied here to a raw copper vessel that carries the weight and presence of a significant custom fire feature rather than a commodity product. HPC describes it plainly: a head-turner, a showstopper. At 175,000 BTU in its full Electronic Ignition configuration, the output matches the description.

The Phoenix is hand-hammered by artisans at HPC Fire, finished with an oil rubbing that enhances the copper's depth and warmth, and shaped into the elongated oval bowl form that makes the Phoenix the appropriate centerpiece for a dining table, a seating group arranged around a long axis, a pool edge, or any installation where the linear flame display is the right design choice. Unlike a round bowl with a Penta burner that radiates in all directions equally, the H-Burner produces a wide, even flame across the full length of the bowl -- a horizontal display rather than a vertical one, more like a living fire in a hearth than a torch in a bowl. The visual effect at the Electronic Ignition settings is a long, low, even sheet of flame that reads beautifully at scale.

 

The Phoenix is available with three ignition systems. The Match Lit version (TOR-PHOEN47X25/HBURN-MLFPK) delivers 65,000 BTU via key valve -- the simplest and most reliable configuration, appropriate where a direct gas line is available and no electronics are required. The Push Button Flame Sensing version (TOR-PHOEN47X25/HBURN-FPPK) delivers 150,000 BTU with AA battery-powered ignition and automatic gas shutoff if the flame is extinguished -- no AC power line required. The Electronic Ignition On/Off version (TOR-PHOEN47X25/H-EI-NG/120VAC) delivers the full 175,000 BTU on 120VAC or 24VAC power with continuous flame monitoring. All three configurations include the Torpedo nozzle upgrade on the H-Burner -- the dealer catalog lists the Phoenix exclusively with Torpedo burner SKUs. The H-Burner's wide, even flame across the length of the bowl is further amplified by the Torpedo nozzle design, which compresses gas flow and introduces oxygen at each nozzle port for taller, more dramatic individual flame points distributed across the full width.

INSTALLATION NOTE: The bowl must be placed on a level surface with adequate drainage at the installation site. Ventilation must remain unobstructed at all times. A certified gas technician must make all gas connections. A certified electrician must install all AC electrical connections for EI models. Do not cover burner orifices when placing fire rock or fire glass. Fire rock must be placed on the burner surface first; fire glass is placed over and around the fire rock. Gas inlet pressure: Natural Gas minimum 3.5 in WC, maximum 7.0 in WC; Liquid Propane minimum 8.0 in WC, maximum 11.0 in WC. Do not use a burner rated for greater than 125,000 BTU with a standard 20-pound propane tank.
