Description

A fire pit that is 56 inches long is not trying to disappear. The Sonoma 56 is designed to be the main attraction of an outdoor space -- rectangular, elongated, and scaled for the kind of patio or terrace where a round or square pit would get lost. Dekko's own description puts it directly: it is the ideal fire feature for spacious environments and outdoor living and lounging, a bold size for a simple purpose -- giving everyone a spot at the fire. At 56 inches wide by 30 inches deep by 16 inches tall, the Sonoma 56 runs the full length of a dining table or anchors a linear seating arrangement in a way that round and square formats cannot. The flame follows the length of the enclosure, creating a horizontal display that draws the group into the long axis rather than clustering around a single central point.

 

The vessel is 100% concrete, handcrafted by Dekko in North America from the same proprietary ultra-light formula that underlies every piece in the Dekko lineup. At 190 pounds, the Sonoma 56 is substantially lighter than a traditional concrete fire pit of the same dimensions, which is what makes the deck, terrace, and commercial rooftop applications that Dekko specifically targets viable without structural engineering concerns. The finish is integral cast concrete -- solid color throughout, not a surface coating -- which means it will not chip, patina, or peel over time. Natural variations in texture and color are part of the handmade character of each unit; Dekko recommends requesting physical finish samples before finalizing a color selection. Six concrete colors are available: Ash, Charcoal, Clay, Limestone, Natural, and Sandstone. Three stone media options ship with the unit: Ivory Beachstone, Slate Beachstone, or Black Lava Rock.

 

The fire system delivers 65,000 BTU in Match Lit configuration -- a chrome key valve with adjustable flame output, no electricity required. The Electronic Ignition upgrade reaches 115,000 BTU on a 120VAC or 24VAC GFCI-protected outdoor outlet, operating on an On/Off basis. An LP/NG convertible burner is included and ships configured for the fuel type ordered. The 66-inch EI power cord requires an outdoor-rated GFCI outlet that does not ship with the unit. Both natural gas and liquid propane are available on both ignition configurations. For LP installations, the tank will not fit inside this unit -- all LP applications require an external tank with a supply line. An optional vinyl weather cover (SONO56-VC) and a vinyl weather cover with wind guard (SONO56-VC-WG) are available as accessories.

 

The Sonoma 56 ships in 2 to 4 weeks via freight carrier, curbside delivery only. A certified gas technician must complete all installations. Inspect the unit upon arrival before the driver departs.

INSTALLATION NOTE: A certified gas technician must install all units. All electrical connections for EI must be made by a licensed electrician. EI requires a 120VAC or 24VAC GFCI-protected outdoor outlet -- GFCI not included. LP tank will not fit inside the Sonoma 56 -- an external LP tank with supply line is required. Do not block ventilation openings. For combustible surface installation, the FPI-DECK39SQ deck insulation kit is required -- concrete pad must be a minimum of 1 inch thick. Do not cover burner orifices when placing stone media. Place lava rock on the burner surface first; decorative stone is placed over lava rock. Inspect and discard stones with visible hairline cracks before placement. On first use, burn for 1 to 2 hours consecutively while keeping a safe distance in case of stone popping or cracking. Provide a minimum of 84 inches (7 feet) of clearance above the burner. Inspect unit upon freight delivery before the driver departs.
