Description

The HPC Fire Inspired Sport Pit is a portable propane fire pit built for exactly what its name suggests -- a fire feature that goes where you go. At 20 inches in diameter and 13 inches tall, it is compact enough to move between the backyard, the tailgate, the campsite, and the patio without requiring installation, a gas line, or a permanent pad. The lid spins on for transport, keeping the unit sealed and ready to move in a single step. A 13-foot hose on the built-in regulator gives you enough reach to keep the 20 lb LP tank positioned away from the fire and out of foot traffic while you're running.

 

The insert is the complete functional package: a 10-inch round burner, thermocouple flame failure protection, a tip-over safety switch, and the built-in regulator are all integrated into the insert assembly. The thermocouple shuts off gas flow if the flame extinguishes unexpectedly. The tip-over switch shuts the unit off automatically if it tilts beyond 45 degrees. Together, these two safety systems mean the Sport Pit is rated for both residential and commercial use -- CSA certified and built to ANSI Z21.97-2017 / CSA 2.41-2017. HPC rates the unit for up to 13 hours of burn time on a single 20 lb propane tank.

 

The fire media -- approximately a half inch of decorative glass or lava rock over the burner -- is required for operation. Non-porous, moisture-holding materials such as river rock, gravel, or pebbles are not approved. The Sport Pit is not rated for cooking. Operate on a flat, level surface only. A 20 lb propane cylinder with a QCC1 valve is required; not included.

INSTALLATION NOTE: Connect to a 20 lb propane cylinder only (self-contained units limited to 30 lb or less). Mount the tank to a solid surface with an L-bracket or enclosure to prevent tipping. Keep the tank and hose out of walkways. Perform a leak test on all connections before first use, annually, and whenever the cylinder is reconnected or a gas component is replaced -- apply 10% soapy water to all fittings with the tank open and the unit off; bubbles indicate a leak. Never test for leaks with an open flame. Do not store a spare cylinder under or near the unit. If the LP tank or any remote enclosure is used, maintain a minimum 54" separation from the fire pit. Annual service by an NFI Gas Specialist (US) or WETT-certified professional (Canada) is recommended.
