Description

The Leisurecraft Canadian Timber Elation is a 3 to 4 person outdoor barrel sauna built for electric heater use, handcrafted in Canada from Eastern White Cedar and engineered to deliver consistent, controllable sauna heat at the push of a button. The structure is identical to the wood-burning Elation -- same cedar, same dimensions, same beveled exterior siding, same solid flat floor -- but the electric configuration removes the chimney, the stove positioning constraints, and the firewood requirement entirely, giving you a cleaner installation and a faster, more precise path to your target temperature.

 

The barrel geometry does what barrel geometry is supposed to do: it concentrates the heated air volume directly around the occupants, eliminates the wasted ceiling space of a cabin design, and allows the interior to reach temperature significantly faster than a flat-wall sauna of comparable size. With an electric heater, that speed advantage is even more pronounced -- typical heat-up time runs 30 to 40 minutes depending on the outdoor temperature and heater wattage selected, and once you are at temperature the electric system holds it there with precision that a wood fire simply cannot match. The solid flat cedar floor is a meaningful upgrade over the bare curved stave floors found on entry-level barrel designs, giving you a stable, level walking surface and making the interior feel far more considered and comfortable.

 

The exterior wears beveled cedar bevel siding that adds a genuine additional layer of R-value and water protection over the standard stave construction, which matters year-round and especially in regions with heavy rain or snow. Two front-facing acrylic windows bring natural light into the interior without sacrificing heat retention. Inside, 23-inch-wide benches give every occupant actual room to sit back and relax rather than perch at the edge. An included cedar heater guard installs around the electric stove during assembly, providing the required clearance protection between the heater and occupants and bench frames.

 

The Elation ships as a precision-cut, pre-drilled flat-packed kit with all cedar components, all hardware, a cedar heater guard, and a numbered assembly manual with a companion video guide. Two people can typically complete the build over a weekend. All electrical connections for the heater must be made by a licensed electrician. A dedicated 240V circuit is required; do not use a GFCI breaker.

NOTE: This sauna is designed and rated for electric heater use. An electric heater must be selected at time of purchase. All electrical wiring must be performed by a licensed electrician on a dedicated 240V circuit. A 40-amp breaker is required for heaters up to 8kW; a 50-amp breaker is required for 9kW heaters. Do NOT use a GFCI breaker. A level, solid foundation (concrete pad, wood deck, crushed stone, or paver blocks) is required prior to assembly and is the responsibility of the customer.

• Eastern White Cedar Construction -- Naturally rot-resistant, insect-resistant, and aromatic. Eastern White Cedar provides exceptional thermal performance and creates the warm, earthy scent that defines the traditional sauna experience. Grade-A solid cedar is used throughout with no tenon joints along the stave length.
• Barrel Design for Efficient Heat Retention -- The circular cross-section concentrates heat directly in the occupied zone, reduces total interior air volume so the space reaches temperature faster than a cabin design, and eliminates wasted ceiling space.
• Electric Heater Compatibility -- The CTC2424E is engineered and rated for electric sauna heater installation. Electric heat delivers precise, consistent temperature control, fast and repeatable heat-up times of 30 to 40 minutes, and maintenance-free operation with no firewood, ash, or chimney required. Compatible heater options (HUUM Drop, HUUM Hive, Harvia KIP, and Homecraft Revive) are available as add-ons at time of purchase.
• Solid Flat Cedar Floor -- Unlike standard barrel saunas where the curved staves continue to the floor, the Elation features a solid flat cedar board floor mounted on a built frame. This provides a level, stable walking surface and dramatically improves comfort and safety inside the cabin.
• Beveled Cedar Bevel Siding -- The exterior of the Elation is clad in beveled cedar boards rather than left as raw staves. This adds a measurable additional layer of R-value, significantly improves water shedding, and gives the exterior a refined, finished appearance that stands apart from bare-stave barrels.
• Cedar Shingle Roofing -- Beveled cedar shingle boards are installed over ice and water shield underlayment to complete the exterior weather envelope. The shingle layer is included in the kit and installed during assembly using provided spacer blocks for consistent spacing.
• Ice and Water Shield Underlayment -- A self-adhering ice and water shield membrane is applied beneath the cedar shingles during assembly, providing a fully waterproofed sub-roof surface that protects the structure in heavy rain, snow, and ice-dam conditions.
• Two Front-Facing Acrylic Windows -- Dual windows are integrated into the front wall panels, bringing natural light into the interior and offering a view outward. The acrylic glazing maintains heat retention while visually opening the space. - Wide 23-Inch Inside Benches -- Inside benches measure 23 inches wide -- wider than the industry standard -- providing genuine lounging room for every occupant. Two inside benches seat 3 to 4 adults in full comfort.
