The Leisurecraft Canadian Timber MiniPOD is a 2 to 4 person outdoor sauna built from 1.5-inch thick Eastern White Cedar and finished in a distinctive pod shape that makes it one of the most visually striking designs in the Canadian Timber lineup. Where a barrel sauna leans horizontal, the MiniPOD stands tall -- its rounded, raindrop silhouette rises vertically to a peak, which does two things that a barrel profile cannot: it gives taller users genuine headroom to stand and move around inside, and it sheds rain and snow off the curved exterior roof more aggressively, making it an especially practical design in climates that see serious winters.

 

The 7-foot by 7-foot footprint is compact enough to fit on a typical backyard pad, patio, or deck without dominating the space, yet the interior feels far more generous than the footprint suggests because the height opens up the air volume above the benches. Side wall benches run the full depth of the interior on both sides, seating up to 4 adults upright or 2 people lying down -- a configuration that Leisurecraft specifically engineered to leave the floor open for a wood-burning stove or electric heater installation directly on the center floor, rather than tucking the heater into a corner.

 

The roof is a proper triple-layer system: the cedar staves form the structural base, a layer of ice and water shield underlayment provides the waterproofing membrane, and Cambridge Dual Black asphalt shingles cap the exterior. This is a finished architectural roof, not a tarp or basic wrap, and it protects the structure in all four seasons without requiring additional roof work after assembly. The door features a large tempered glass window set in a cedar frame, bringing natural light into the interior and giving the front face of the sauna an open, finished look.

 

The MiniPOD ships as a flat-packed kit with pre-cut, pre-drilled Eastern White Cedar components, all hardware, and a full assembly manual and video guide. Assembly typically runs about 8 hours for two people and requires standard tools plus a jigsaw for the chimney cutout if a wood-burning stove is selected. The CTC77MW is the wood-burning configuration, designed for a floor-mounted wood stove with a chimney exiting through the rear wall. No electrical infrastructure is required for the heater, making it a strong choice for locations without convenient power access.

NOTE: A wood-burning heater and chimney kit are required for this sauna to operate and must be selected at time of purchase. A level, solid foundation (concrete pad, wood deck, crushed stone, or paver blocks) is required prior to assembly and is the responsibility of the customer. A floor plate or adjustable installation base is required under the heater and must be selected at time of purchase.
