The Leisurecraft Canadian Timber Serenity is a 2 to 4 person outdoor barrel sauna handcrafted in Canada from Eastern White Cedar -- a lighter-toned, tight-knotted wood that gives the Serenity its distinctive warm, natural appearance and the same innate rot resistance and aromatic quality that has made Canadian cedar the defining material of outdoor sauna culture. The Serenity is the mid-size model in the Canadian Timber barrel lineup, sitting between the Harmony and the Tranquility, and it hits the sweet spot for most residential installations: enough room for two people to stretch out or four people to sit comfortably, in a footprint that works on a typical backyard pad without dominating the space.

 

The barrel design is not just aesthetic -- it is functional. The circular cross-section eliminates wasted ceiling volume, concentrating heat exactly where you are sitting and allowing the sauna to reach temperature significantly faster than a cabin or flat-wall design of comparable capacity. Hot air circulates naturally through the curved interior rather than pooling in corners, which means the heat you feel is even and consistent from the moment you sit down. The Serenity also includes a solid flat cedar floor, a meaningful upgrade over bare-stave barrel interiors that gives you a stable, level walking surface and adds structural confidence underfoot.

 

The door is 5mm bronze tempered glass set in a cedar frame, pre-hung on the front wall before shipping so it drops into place during assembly without alignment guesswork. The glass lets natural light into the interior and gives the front of the sauna a clean, finished look that separates it from fully-wood-door designs. On either side of the door, a pair of integrated exterior benches form a small porch area -- a cool-down zone directly in front of the cabin where you can sit after a session without stepping off the platform or pulling out a chair.

 

The Serenity ships as a flat-packed, ready-to-assemble kit with all pre-cut and pre-drilled cedar components, marine-grade aluminum tension bands with stainless steel hardware, and a full installation and operation manual. Two people with basic tools can complete the assembly over a weekend. The CTC2245W is the wood-burning configuration, designed for use with a wood-burning stove and chimney -- no electrical infrastructure required for heating, making it one of the most flexible installation options in the lineup.

NOTE: This sauna structure is designed and rated for wood-burning heater installations. A level, solid foundation (concrete pad, wood deck, crushed stone, or paver blocks) is required prior to assembly and is the responsibility of the customer. A chimney kit is required for wood-burning stove use and is available as an add-on at time of purchase.

• Eastern White Cedar Construction -- Eastern White Cedar is lighter in color and features tight knots in the wood grain, giving the Serenity its characteristic warm, natural appearance. The wood is naturally rot-resistant, insect-resistant, and aromatic, and provides excellent thermal performance for outdoor sauna use. - Barrel Design for Fast, Efficient Heating -- The round cross-section concentrates heat in the occupied zone, reduces total interior air volume so the space reaches temperature faster than flat-wall designs, and promotes natural hot-air circulation throughout the interior rather than allowing heat to pool unevenly.

• 5mm Bronze Tempered Glass Door with Cedar Frame -- The door is pre-hung on the front wall at the factory before shipping, eliminating the need to align and mount the door frame during assembly. The bronze tempered glass admits natural light and gives the front face of the sauna a refined, finished appearance.
• Integrated Front Porch with Exterior Benches -- Two cedar benches are built into the front face of the barrel on either side of the door, creating a dedicated cool-down area directly outside the sauna. This is a design-specific feature of the Serenity model and is not an add-on.
• Marine-Grade Aluminum Bands with Stainless Steel Hardware -- The barrel staves are secured with marine-grade aluminum tension bands and stainless steel bolts, providing corrosion resistance appropriate for year-round outdoor exposure in coastal and high-humidity climates. Bands should be checked and tightened within the first month of installation and periodically thereafter.
• Wood-Burning Heater Compatible -- The CTC2245W is rated for wood-burning stove installation. No electrical wiring is required for the heater, making it suitable for locations without convenient electrical access. Compatible heater options including Narvi and HUUM wood-burning stoves are available as add-ons at time of purchase.
• Cedar Cradle Base -- The barrel sits on solid cedar cradle supports that distribute the weight of the structure evenly and elevate it slightly off the foundation surface to promote drainage and air circulation beneath the floor frame.
