Description

Fire and water are not typically asked to coexist in the same vessel. The Outdoor Plus Maya Fire & Water Bowl makes that combination not only possible but visually striking -- copper walls, a 304 stainless steel burner producing an open flame at the center, and a 3/4-inch integrated scupper that channels a continuous sheet of water over the bowl's angular face. The design draws its geometry from Mayan pyramid architecture: crisp, square edges, a tapered form that steps down from the rim to the base, angular lines that look as deliberate from ten feet away as they do from two. The effect when both the fire and water are running is not a novelty -- it is the kind of layered sensory experience that turns an outdoor space into a destination.

The Maya is available in three sizes -- 24 inches, 30 inches, and 36 inches -- all square, all built from the same hand-hammered copper with the same 304 stainless steel pan and burner assembly. At the 24-inch size, an 8-inch burner produces 45,000 BTU. At the 30 and 36-inch sizes, a 12-inch burner produces 65,000 BTU. Water flow runs at 7 to 10 gallons per minute across all three sizes via a 3/4-inch water inlet scupper -- a functional water feature, not a decorative drip. The scupper is integral to the bowl's construction, not an add-on, and the bowl is designed and sized to pair with a pool pump for poolside installations or with any recirculating pump system for use anywhere.

The copper is handworked from high-quality raw material at The Outdoor Plus's facility in Ontario, California. Because of its handmade nature, slight variations in color and texture occur between units -- characteristics that distinguish handcrafted copper from manufactured finishes. Unlike the Sedona fire bowl, which develops a warm brownish-amber patina, The Outdoor Plus explicitly notes that the Maya's copper material will change its color into a blue/green hue over time when exposed to the natural elements. This is not a defect; it is the characteristic weathering of copper -- the same process that gives older copper architecture its distinctive verdigris finish. If maintaining the original hammered copper appearance is important, a periodic application of copper sealer will slow the patina development.

Two ignition options are available on all three sizes. The Match Lit configuration includes the standard gas valve arrangement with whistle-free stainless steel hose, gas orifice, and lava rock. The Low Voltage Electronic Ignition (CSA Certified, ANSI Z21.97-2017 / CSA 2.41-2017) adds an electronic valve and pilot igniter for one-touch ignition. Both configurations are available in Natural Gas or Liquid Propane. An optional key valve installation (OPT-KVI) mounts the chrome key valve on the backside of the bowl for a cleaner finished look. INSTALLATION NOTE: For outdoor use only. The bowl must be placed on a level surface. All gas connections must be made by a licensed gas technician in accordance with local building codes. All electrical connections for the Low Voltage Electronic Ignition must be made by a licensed electrician. Water feature operation requires connection of the 3/4-inch scupper inlet to a pool pump or recirculating pump. Do not cover burner orifices when placing lava rock or fire glass. Lava rock must be placed on the burner first; fire glass is placed over and around the lava rock.
