Description

The Regal is The Outdoor Plus's rectangular GFRC concrete fire pit built for the customer who wants the weight and permanence of a poured concrete fire feature without the installation complexity or cost of a custom pour. It is available in three lengths -- 48, 54, and 60 inches -- all at the same 24-inch width and 13-inch height, and all outputting 65,000 BTU/hr from a certified burner rated to ANSI Z21.97-2017 / CSA 2.41-2017. The profile is low and wide -- at 13 inches tall, the Regal sits closer to seating height than most fire pits, which puts the flame at a level that reads as intimate and inviting when you're seated around it rather than elevated and distant.

 

The shell is GFRC -- glass-fiber reinforced concrete -- color-infused throughout the thickness of the material rather than surface-coated, which means the color cannot chip, peel, or fade from the exterior over time regardless of weathering or thermal cycling. GFRC gives the Regal the visual density and finish quality of poured concrete at a fraction of the weight, with substantially better resistance to cracking under the repeated expansion and contraction of heat cycling than standard concrete mixes. Every unit is individually handmade in California, and The Outdoor Plus is explicit that color and texture variation between pieces is inherent to the handmade process -- physical samples are strongly recommended before committing to a finish.

 

Eighteen finish options are available across three families. The smooth finish collection includes Ash, Black, Brown, Chestnut, Chocolate, Limestone, Natural Gray, Smooth Gray, and Vanilla -- the full range of the architectural concrete palette from warm neutrals to cool grays. The metallic finish collection -- Bronze, Copper, Pearl, Silver, and Slate -- gives the GFRC surface a sheen that responds differently to firelight than a flat matte finish, with depth that shifts with angle and light conditions. The rustic and textured collection includes Coffee, Moss Stone, Rustic Gray, and Rustic White -- open-texture finishes with a more organic, less refined surface character. The pan and burner are both 304 stainless steel. The burner is certified to ANSI Z21.97-2017 / CSA 2.41-2017. Five ignition configurations are available: match-lit, plug-and-play electronic ignition (CSA certified), match-lit with flame sense (LC certified), flame sense with spark ignition (LC certified), and low-voltage electronic ignition (CSA certified; suited to poolside and home automation installations). Available in liquid propane or natural gas -- LP and NG are not interchangeable; select fuel type at time of order.

 

All gas line work must be performed by a licensed gas professional. Do not operate the unit with a cover on -- doing so voids the warranty. If a cover is used when the fire feature is not in use, it must be a breathable material; plastic or non-breathable covers may stick to the GFRC surface.

IGNITION TYPES EXPLAINED:

Five ignition configurations are available for the Regal GFRC, across both liquid propane and natural gas.

 

The match-lit configuration is the base unit. A key valve controls gas flow and the flame is lit manually at the burner with a match or lighter. No electricity required. It is the simplest installation and the configuration with no electrical dependencies.

 

The match-lit with flame sense configuration (LC certified) adds a flame-sensing safety function to the standard match-lit system. The burner is still lit manually, but if the flame extinguishes unexpectedly, the flame sense component shuts off gas flow automatically.

 

The flame sense with spark ignition configuration (LC certified) adds auto-spark ignition to the flame sense shutoff -- no match or lighter needed to light the burner. If the burner fails to light or the flame is extinguished, gas flow shuts off automatically.

 

The plug-and-play electronic ignition (CSA certified) is The Outdoor Plus's 110V turnkey electronic option. The ignition system plugs into a standard outdoor GFCI outlet. No low-voltage wiring or transformer required. This configuration is not recommended for installations near water -- select the low-voltage option for poolside use.

 

The low-voltage electronic ignition (CSA certified) operates on 12V DC and is designed for integration with home automation systems, wall switches, timers, and pool or spa controllers. This is the correct configuration for any poolside installation or any setup where the Regal will be controlled remotely as part of a broader outdoor electrical system. All low-voltage wiring must be connected by a licensed electrician.
